Professional activities My previous research studies addressed the role of the plasmin(ogen) system in bacterial pathogenesis. I am currently on sabbatical leave at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill as a Visiting Fellow in the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. My focus is on health care delivery for patients with sickle cell disease.
My teaching responsibilites have included the Hematology Consult service, the Internal Medicine inpatient service, and co-directing the Hematology section of the medical school Pathology course.
I was the Chief of the Hematology/Oncology Division from 1995 through June 2000.
